Miranda has heard the rumors of Selkie Island's merpeople, but has never thought twice about them. When Miranda goes to Selkie for the first time, to try and sell her grandmother's vacation home with her mother, she finds out more than she bargained about the rumors. Miranda meets a local boy named Leo. She really likes him, but can't help notice that he fits all the criteria for being a merman. None of the other boys Miranda has met have been right for her, but can she get past the fact that Leo could be what she thought was only a mythical creature?
